SIDO 2026 Performance Metrics Report: Measuring the Impact of International Trade Programs
IBG Global is pleased to announce the publication of the SIDO 2026 Performance Metrics Report, developed in partnership with the State International Development Organizations (SIDO).
The report examines how U.S. state trade offices and international trade agencies measure the success and impact of their export development programs.
Drawing on responses from 28 U.S. state trade offices and 17 international trade agencies, the report compares the metrics organizations use, how performance data is collected, and how approaches differ internationally.
What Does the Report Reveal?
One of the key findings is a difference in how success is measured. U.S. state trade offices place greater emphasis on export sales and ROI, while international trade agencies tend to focus more heavily on client outcomes, market expansion and long-term impact.
The report also provides practical recommendations for strengthening performance measurement, including tracking long-term client outcomes, measuring new market entry, conducting cost-benefit analyses and using external benchmarking.
The findings provide a valuable resource for trade agencies, economic development organizations, policymakers and international trade professionals looking to better understand and communicate the impact of international trade development programs.
